FAQ – Sure Lock and Safe | San Antonio Locksmith Questions Answered

Question 1

How much does a locksmith service cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing depends on the service type, time of day, and complexity. Residential rekeying starts at $149.99 for up to 6 locks (our current special). Automotive key programming, commercial lock work, and safe services are quoted individually. Call us at (210) 556-5085 for a free estimate — we're upfront about pricing before any work begins.

Question 2

Do you charge a service call or trip fee?

Accepted Answer

We do charge a dispatch fee for mobile calls, which is disclosed upfront before we roll. For in-shop services at our Gulfmart St. location, there is no trip fee. We always give you the full cost estimate before starting any work.

Question 3

What is the $149.99 Rekey Special?

Accepted Answer

Our Rekey Special covers rekeying up to 6 residential door locks for a flat $149.99. This is ideal for new homeowners, renters moving in, or anyone who wants to ensure old keys no longer work. Additional locks can be added at a per-lock rate. Call to confirm availability and schedule.

Question 4

Do you offer free estimates?

Accepted Answer

Yes — call us at (210) 556-5085 or submit a quote request on our Contact page. For most standard services we can give you a price range over the phone. For complex jobs (high-security locks, automotive module programming, safes) we may need to assess in person first.

Question 5

Are you a licensed locksmith in Texas?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Sure Lock and Safe is a fully licensed and insured locksmith company operating in compliance with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Private Security Bureau regulations. Texas law requires all locksmiths to be licensed — always verify a locksmith's license before letting them work on your property.

Question 6

Are you insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we carry general liability insurance. This protects you and your property in the unlikely event of any damage during a service call. We're happy to provide proof of insurance upon request.

Question 7

How long have you been in business?

Accepted Answer

Sure Lock and Safe has been serving the San Antonio area since 2015. Our owners have over 20 years of locksmith experience and have run their own business for 11 of those years. We operate out of a physical shop at 1999 Gulfmart St. Ste 515, San Antonio, TX 78217, which means we're a real, established local business — not a call-center dispatch service.

Question 8

Do you come to me, or do I have to visit your shop?

Accepted Answer

Both! We have a physical shop at 1999 Gulfmart St. Ste 515 in San Antonio where you can bring your vehicle, keys, or locks. We also dispatch mobile technicians to your home, business, or roadside location throughout the San Antonio metro area.

Question 9

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

We primarily serve San Antonio and the surrounding communities including New Braunfels, San Marcos, Schertz, Converse, Live Oak, Universal City, Selma, and other Bexar County and Comal County cities. Not sure if we cover your area? Call us and we'll let you know.

Question 10

How quickly can you arrive for a mobile call?

Accepted Answer

Response times vary by location and current demand. For most San Antonio locations we aim to arrive within 30–60 minutes. We'll give you an estimated arrival time when you call. For non-emergency jobs, we can also schedule a specific appointment window.

Question 11

Do you offer 24/7 emergency locksmith service?

Accepted Answer

Our regular shop hours are Monday–Friday 9 AM–6 PM and Saturday 10 AM–3 PM. For after-hours emergency calls, please call (210) 556-5085 and we'll do our best to assist or direct you to the next available time. Emergency availability may vary.

Question 12

Do I need an appointment, or do you accept walk-ins?

Accepted Answer

Yes, both our shops in San Antonio and New Braunfels are by appointment only.  By making an appointment it ensures the right technician and equipment are available.

Question 13

How do I schedule a service?

Accepted Answer

The easiest way is to call us directly at (210) 556-5085. You can also submit a quote request through our Contact page and we'll follow up to confirm a time. We'll ask for your location, the service needed, and any relevant details (vehicle year/make/model for automotive jobs, lock brand for commercial work, etc.).

Question 14

What should I have ready when I call?

Accepted Answer

For automotive jobs: year, make, model, and VIN if available. For residential/commercial: the lock brand and type if known, and whether you need rekeying or full replacement. For safes: the brand and model number if possible. The more detail you can provide, the more accurate your quote will be.
